Chris Leak/Chicago Bears

(Chris Leak; Chicago Bears) Where would the Chicago Bears be now if they had kept Chris Leak from the Florida Gators? Well they certainly wouldn’t be any more pathetic offensively than they are now. Leak has real potential. He reminds me of Peyton Manning.

He has a great arm on him, with solid accuracy and puts a nice spiral under his throws. He had built up his muscle tone and he gained confidence while in the pocket, and while leaving the pocket. He had an eye for the quarterback position.

Leak was ready for the NFL. He came from the most competitive division in college football the SEC. And yet you see all of these other quarterbacks in the NFL and they’ve never come from a competitive team.

Take Troy Smith for example. The Heisman Trophy winner that went head-to-head with Leak in the 2006 NCAA College Football Championship. I’ll write a blog about the stats from that game later, but the point is the final score was 41-14. The score alone shows the better QB. And yet Smith is currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens. Although he isn’t the starter it’s just the idea that the QB that out played him the in 2006 NCAA College Football Championship isn’t in the NFL.

But really why did everyone give up on Leak so soon? After a couple of years he may have been better than either of the Manning brothers or even Brady!

The 2006 NCAA College Football Championship was amazing. Leak as a Senior and Tim Tebow as another QB weapon in Florida’s repertoire was the perfect one-two-punch to knockout Ohio State. Although Tebow despite being a great QB as well, was great he did take some of the shine away from Leak in his final year at Florida.

COME ON NFL GIVE CHRIS LEAK A CHANCE TO SHOW YOU HOW HE CAN SHINE AGAIN!!!
