(Chris Leak; Chicago Bears) Where would the Chicago Bears be now if they had kept Chris Leak from the Florida Gators? Well they certainly wouldn’t be any more pathetic offensively than they are now. Leak has real potential. He reminds me of Peyton Manning.
He has a great arm on him, with solid accuracy and puts a nice spiral under his throws. He had built up his muscle tone and he gained confidence while in the pocket, and while leaving the pocket. He had an eye for the quarterback position.
Leak was ready for the NFL. He came from the most competitive division in college football the SEC. And yet you see all of these other quarterbacks in the NFL and they’ve never come from a competitive team.
Take Troy Smith for example. The Heisman Trophy winner that went head-to-head with Leak in the 2006 NCAA College Football Championship. I’ll write a blog about the stats from that game later, but the point is the final score was 41-14. The score alone shows the better QB. And yet Smith is currently playing for the Baltimore Ravens. Although he isn’t the starter it’s just the idea that the QB that out played him the in 2006 NCAA College Football Championship isn’t in the NFL.
But really why did everyone give up on Leak so soon? After a couple of years he may have been better than either of the Manning brothers or even Brady!
The 2006 NCAA College Football Championship was amazing. Leak as a Senior and Tim Tebow as another QB weapon in Florida’s repertoire was the perfect one-two-punch to knockout Ohio State. Although Tebow despite being a great QB as well, was great he did take some of the shine away from Leak in his final year at Florida.
COME ON NFL GIVE CHRIS LEAK A CHANCE TO SHOW YOU HOW HE CAN SHINE AGAIN!!!

Banana Seat Bicycles Are Coming Back!
On a less serious and yet somewhat comedic note, I’d just like to say BANANA SEATS ARE COMIN’ BACK! Yes that’s right the bicycle seats that you loved to ride as a kid that allowed more than one passenger will someday, hopefully someday soon will make a comeback. You might ask yourself, “What brought all of this banana seat talk on”.
Well I remembered a close friend who I will refer to as, Banana Billy. One day while going through old bicycles in my grandfather’s garage Banana Billy happened to come across an old banana seat bicycle. Well, Billy being the creatively hilarious dude he was decided to take the bike for a spin around the block. While riding around the block, did I forget to mention it was about 9 O’clock at night, anyway while taking a few spins around the block Banana Billy screamed out “BANANA SEATS ARE COMIN’ BACK!” several times.
After reflecting on this personal memoir, I asked myself, “could banana seat bicycles make a comeback?” As we all know time has a tendency to repeat itself, as we can see in the current clothing trends. But could these bicycle seats that have the similarities of a banana make a realistic comeback in our era? Maybe, but in my opinion the seat would need a certain modern flash added to it.
Popularized in the mid 1960s and well into the 70s, the banana seat was quite the hot seat. While they were originally called Chopper Bicycles, I really don’t think they would have had the same popularized effect had they remained Chopper bikes. The name banana seat just stands out to me.
To many they were very comfortable seats, although there were some picky people that I will not name that claimed that the Huffy bike’s seat was of a higher comfort. But let’s not forget banana seats provided more length and therefore allowed for a bicycle made for two.
Please fill free to leave your opinions on whether you believe Banana Seat Bicycles will return.
Will banana seats make a come back? Only time will tell.

Does the Regular Season in the NFL Mean Nothing?
Where did the Arizona Cardinals come from? No one on planet earth outside the state of Arizona could have predicted that the Arizona Cardinals could have made the kind of run the Cards made during the 08-09 season. And the Cardinals are living proof that the NFL season doesn’t really start until the playoffs. Teams can have the absolute worst season of their franchise’s history, but as long as they get enough wins to make the playoffs none of the faults they had in the regular season even matter.
The New York Giants are a sure sign of this. In the 2007-08 season they put the New England Patriots hopes of the first perfect in NFL history straight down the…well I think you can see where I’m going with this. I mean, come on! They where a 5 seed, New England was 18-0! And the Giants got hot at the right time and handed defeat to New England 17-14. And let’s not forget that 32-yard pass to David Tyree with just minutes left in the game, which then resulted in the game winning pass to Plaxico Burress ( I’m going to miss him). If a team can be a 5 seed and hand a loss to a team that’s 18-0 in the superbowl, then the regular season means nothing and all that matters is getting hot in the playoffs. Just keep things together, put a little glue here, a little duct tape there and MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!
Don’t count out the 2005-06 Pittsburg Steelers. They were the first 6 seed to win a super bowl, which could have been considered the most remarkable run in NFL playoff history. They played every game on the road, and they just held things together and got win after win until they put all together for a super bowl victory at Super Bowl XL in the Motor City. I remember that season not just because I am a Steelers fan, but because Indianapolis was the team I thought would put it all together. And yes, I was ready to crawl in a hole somewhere after the Steelers handed a 21-18 loss to the Colts. Indy was the top seed that year, they were 14-2 and yet Pittsburg brought their A-Game at the right time, marched into the Colts home turf and handed them a loss.
It’s because these runs by under-the-radar teams that I’ll step aside and give a hand clap in honor of those teams. Who, despite having mediocre regular seasons they have remarkable playoff runs.
I am personally not a fan of the Arizona Cardinals, but after what they did in the 2008-09 season, I must say…I’m impressed. Of course we all knew they would lose to Pittsburg but despite the odds stacked against them and the loss they received; the Cards can still say that they got there.
And to do so under 37 year old QB Kurt Warner, that’s even more remarkable. Warner, a guy who once went from bagging groceries to playing for a team that was once known as The Greatest Show on Turf, hasn’t been anything special since leaving the Rams. But at 37 years old he throws for 4,538 yards along with 30 TDs and a QB rating of 96.9! Where did the sudden change in play ability come from? When Warner first came to the Cardinals organization they weren’t even sure if he’d be their starter. He was getting up there in age and hadn’t had a solid season since 2001. Contributing and putting the kind of numbers Warner put up is nothing short of amazing. Let’s not forget the kind of weapons Warner had to pass the ball to.
Larry Fitzgerald. Enough said. The Cardinals finished the 2008-09 season with a 9-7 record which was enough to win the NFC West. They got hot at the right time in the playoffs and had the entire team consisted of Larry Fitzgeralds maybe the Cards would have had a shot at beating the Steelers. Of course the Steelers had the D and the Cards D was well…so so. Of course defense wins championships, but that is another story in itself. All these lower seeded regular season mediocre teams got to the super bowl because of their defense and timely offences. Sure the Cardinals lost, but they maintain the right to say that they got there.

Global Warming: You Decide
Upon review of global warming statistics, here are some results; The water temperature was 72 degrees Fahrenheit; 88 degrees Fahrenheit is warm by Miami’s coastal beach standards.
This July was the hottest the world’s oceans been in 130 years!
The average water temperature worldwide was 62.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
The Gulf of Mexico, where warm water strengthens the chance of hurricanes the temperatures have been around 90 degrees. Most of the water in the Northern Hemisphere has been warmer than the average. The Mediterranean has been reported as being 3 degrees warmer than usual. Even higher temperatures rule in the Pacific and Indian oceans. It’s most noticeable near the Artic. There, temperatures are as much as 10 degrees warmer.
Breaking heat records in the water is an obvious sign of global warming compared to breaking heat records on land due to the fact that it takes water longer to heat up and does not cool as easily as land. The warm waters that we’re seeing now aren’t going to disappear next year; in fact they will be around for a very long time. The fact that it takes five times more energy to warm water than land is the reason warmer waters affect weather on land. This is yet another indicator of the changes occurring.
These effects are already being seen in coral reefs. Long-term excessive heat bleaches coral reefs solid white and at times, kills them. Bleaching has started earlier than usual in the Virgin Islands, the keys, and Puerto Rico.
Warm Water is also a required fuel source for hurricanes. Everything that is happening in the oceans now will add extra energy to the hurricanes.
I believe a lot more things are occurring in our oceans and atmospheres than we really know are affecting us.
Please help one another to better our world for our well-being as well as our children’s.

Where Do Peyton and the Colts Go From Here?
No Tony Dungy and no Marvin Harrison. What are the Indianpolis Colts to do without two guys that have been with the team for the last 13 years?
WR Marvin Harrsion has been with the team for the entirety of his 13 year career which began in 1996, two years before QB Peyton Manning came along. The two have combined for more touchdowns, receptions and yards than any other QB/WR combination in NFL history.
But it's not just about the quarterback and wide receiver's relationship. What about the head coach? There will be no Tony Dungy in Indianapolis for the first time since 2001. Dungy who coached the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before making the transition to Indianapolis, never had a losing season in Indianapolis. His worst record being 10-6 in 2002. After having that bad taste that a 10-6 season leaves in a coach's mouth when it results in a 41-0 playoff loss to the Jets, Dungy turned around and led the Colts to the playoffs six straight years including a superbowl win in the 2006-07 season.
Where do the Colts go from here? Or better yet, where does Peyton Manning go from here? Stop for a moment and put yourself in Manning's shoes, or in this case...cleats. What do you do from this point on? For the first time in your, now 12 year career you are without your ace WR Marvin Harrison. After spending all but two your playoff experiences with Head Coach Tony Dungy, where do you go from here? Well you go out and do what Peyton Manning does best, be a quarterback and lead your team into the playoffs yet again!
And don't blow it! Especially don't blow it against the New England Patriots. Get into the new head coach's schemes and be happy that your throwing to three time pro bowler Reggie Wayne. Who for the last couple years has set in as a potential replacment for Harrison. But beware of the Tennessee Titans, who have a solid defense and after winning the AFC South last year they are once again breathing down Indy's neck.
